Villa Vals
In the Swiss village Vals you can now enjoy a combination of ‘Dutch Design’ and ‘Swiss Quality’. Villa Vals is a freestanding dwelling directly next to the famous Therme of Peter Zumthor. The luxurious villa is extremely quiet, offering breathtaking views of pristine nature.
The house – approximately 160m2 – is completely dug out of the mountainside. It offers room to for ten people (with a maximum of 12, in case at least 4 of which are children) and is surrounded by a spacious garden offering a great deal of privacy. A big glass façade opens out onto the terrace (60 m2) and offers a spectacular view on green meadows (snow-covered hillsides in the winter) and mountaintops.

Villa Vals design
Villa Vals is designed by Bjarne Mastenbroek and Christian Müller, respectively of the architectural offices SeARCH and CMA. Their design plan was to completely integrate the villa into the landscape to avoid disturbing the unspoiled nature. That is why access to the villa is only possible via the nearby wooden Graubünder shed, through an underground tunnel which runs straight through the mountainside. The façade of the house is slightly slanted, adding to the view of the mountain scenery across the valley opposite of the house.
The house, which was completed in 2009, was built and furnished in cooperation with a large number of Dutch designers and companies that produce Dutch design. Their willful designs fit well in the spacious, industrial architecture of the villa. Pieces and objects of, amongst others, Hella Jongerius, Demakersvan, Scholten & Baijings, Marcel Wanders, Claudy Jongstra, Royal Tichelaar Makkum and Vitra Nederland were used. The spacious interior is an eclectic, but balanced mix of contemporary Dutch Design. A unique combination of architecture, interior and styling.

The house is almost completely decorated with modern design of Dutch heritage, created in collaboration with a large number of Dutch designers and companies. Plates, cups, vases and lamps are from Hella Jongerius, sofas, plaids and cushions/pillows by Scholten & Baijings. There is glass by Aldo Bakker, there are lamps by Marcel Wanders and there are rugs by Claudy Jongstra. Studio JvM designed the bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Organic bed linen are made by Cottonmatters. t.e. (Thomas Eyck), Royal Tichelaar Makkum, Vitra Nederland and Demakersvan also supplied many products.
